Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will lead the rally and address its participants
The Pakistan People’s Party, the ruling party in the province, will stage a rally in Karachi on Sunday (today) to pay homage to the party’s activists and supporters killed in a blast at Benazir Bhutto’s homecoming rally near Karsaz on 18 October, 2007.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will lead the rally and address its participants at the Karsaz monument on Sharea Faisal where it will also conclude.
The “Salam Shuhuda Rally” is likely to begin at 10am from Bilawal House and through Boat Basin, Mai Kolachi Road, Moulvi Tameezuddin Khan Road, Jinnah Bridge, ICI Bridge, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road, Lea Market, Napier Road, MA Jinnah Road, Naumaish Chowrangi, Sharea Quaideen, and Sharea Faisal reach the Karsaz intersection.
The PPP leadership has directed the party’s leaders and activists belonging to the South and West districts to participate in the rally right from its commencement point of Bilawal House.
Activists and leaders belonging to other districts in the city have been told to join the rally at any point along its proposed route nearest to their respective residence considering their own convenience.
Stringent security measures have been taken along the route of the rally while the party has established several reception camps as part of its preparations.
Banners have been set up on major roads of the city to spread public messages for the rally.
The main truck of the rally, which will be used by Bilawal and other central leaders of the party, will be parked on the track of Sharea Faisal leading up to airport.
The PPP chairman will address participants of the rally from the truck. Besides his main address at Karsaz, Bilawal is likely to address the rally at four different intersections along route of the rally.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited different reception camps of the party and the main Karsaz monument on Friday night to check the preparations and arrangements for the rally.
In this connection, Shah, along with ministers Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Nasir Hussain Shah, Fayyaz Butt, and Imdad Pitafi, also visited Lyari.
In Lyari, the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues visited three reception camps for the rally including one at the famous Cheel Chowk.
After Lyari, the chief minister visited the party’s reception camps at Burns Road, Numaish Chowrangi, and then the main one at the Karsaz intersection on Sharea Faisal.
Provincial labour adviser Saeed Ghani also visited the Karsaz camp to inspect the security measures and other arrangements. Senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
